Welcome to TheMothmanReads, my personal book blog and digital journal—a cozy corner of the internet where I get to ramble freely.
My name is Jenn, and I’m a romance reader, library lover, and content creator who probably owns too many books and not enough shelf space. By day, I work at a record store. By… other day, I work at a nonprofit. In between, I’m creating bookish content that actually makes me happy.
What I Read (and Why)
I primarily read romance books, including YA romance, New Adult romance, and graphic novels. I enjoy spice, but only if there’s real plot—because vibes alone won’t carry a story. If you love character-driven romances, emotional arcs, and the occasional unhinged reading rant, you’re in the right place.
My Reading Goals
My reading goal this year is to read 30–50 books. Last year, I attempted my library’s 50 Book Challenge and made it to 42 (so close). This year, I’m aiming for balance:
- 30 books = success
- 50 books = success and a mug
- Anywhere in between = still proud of myself
We’re embracing sustainable reading habits over burnout here.
A Love Letter to Libraries
I really love my library. I’ve been a patron since 1999, and libraries are a huge part of my reading life. Expect plenty of library hauls, reading challenges, and general public library appreciation.
Why This Blog Exists
TheMothmanReads is a digital reading journal. Paper journals stress me out, but the internet doesn’t (somehow). I don’t expect this blog to “go viral”—I’m doing this for the love of reading and writing. Sure, I’ll probably fall into the algorithm trap from time to time, but my long-term goal is to build a bookish community rooted in authenticity.
What I Believe
Reading is political. Full stop.
I believe in human rights for everyone, healthcare for all, a free Palestine, and protecting our planet. If that’s not your vibe, this may not be the space for you—and that’s fine.
(And yes, I did have blue hair.)
A Judgment-Free Book Blog
This is a no-judgment reading zone. There’s no pressure here about how fast you read or how many books you finish. I love reading stats, but they’re optional—not mandatory.
